Inside Bristol’s Most Photogenic Nail & Beauty Bar

If you love leopard print, kitsch interiors and the blingest nail art you’ve ever seen, then you’re going to be so excited about my newest most instagrammable location find in Bristol!

Tucked away in a residential part of Bedminster, The House of Gossip is a technicolour dream of retro lamps, framed feline art and velvet – the kind of space that makes you want to grab your phone before your coffee’s even cooled. It’s bold, quirky and unapologetically extra… basically, my kind of heaven.

It was founded by Emily, the Bristol-based brand designer and all-round creative powerhouse behind theemilygossip.co.uk — which explains everything. No wonder the space looks so good. It’s been designed with such a strong sense of style and personality that it instantly sparks ideas for anyone who loves beautiful, creative spaces.

Gossip is known for their epic creative nail designs and flair for fun (think neon, glitter and wild animal prints done right). And while they sadly no longer have a café inside the salon, these days you can still book in for a nail or beauty treatment, enjoy a free hot drink and – here’s the exciting bit – make use of their gorgeous lounge area to capture some DIY brand photos on your phone!

It’s the perfect combo of pamper and productivity – where you can walk out with fresh nails and fresh content for your socials, website or brand photoshoot gallery.

Why The House of Gossip Is a Dream for your DIY Brand Photos

This isn’t your average nail salon – it’s a creative haven with personality in every corner.

From the peachy-pink walls and tiger-striped rugs to the tasselled lamps and the odd leopard keeping watch (naturally), it’s a feast for the eyes. The whole place feels fun, confident and unapologetically unique – the ideal setting if your brand style leans colourful, bold or a little tongue-in-cheek.

The lighting is beautiful too, with soft natural light streaming through the big windows and a warm, flattering glow from the lamps — perfect for taking great photos on your phone without any fancy equipment.

If you’re a personal brand, content creator or small-business owner, it’s the kind of space where you could easily capture a month’s worth of lifestyle content in an hour – all while treating yourself to a little self-care.

And if you’re as obsessed with the aesthetic as I am, what an opportunity to have Emily’s creative mind behind it to help you bring that same cohesive, design-led feel to your own business branding too – so everything from your visuals to your brand photos ties together beautifully.

How to Make the Most of It

Planning to take a few photos while you’re there? Just double check with the team first – they’re all super lovely, but it’s always a good idea to make sure you’re ok to crack on before you start snapping away!

Here’s a quick checklist for your visit:

  • Book an appointment so you can use the lounge before or after your treatment.
  • Wear colours that complement the space – warm pinks, oranges, reds or even leopard print will look amazing against the décor.
  • Take a tripod or phone stand if you want to get hands-free shots.
  • Use portrait mode to soften the background and make you pop.
  • Get creative with props – bring your own on brand coffee cup, magazines, your laptop or a notebook all fit right in here. They also have cute books that you can use as props like I did.

Pose Ideas for the Space

Once you’re there, have fun with it. This isn’t a stiff corporate setting – it’s full of personality.

A few pose ideas that work beautifully in this space:

  • Seated shots at the table, pretending to work or chat – relaxed and relatable.
  • Leaning on the sofa back with a coffee cup or laptop, perfect for a “day in the life” vibe.
  • Close-ups with props like your phone, notebook, planner or coffee – something natural you’d genuinely have in your day-to-day.
  • Full-body seated on the sofa surrounded by those gorgeous retro cushions and prints.

A few angles and different expressions go a long way – you can create a whole gallery of brand images without ever changing outfit.

Final Thoughts

I left The House of Gossip feeling completely inspired – and 100% jealous that my house doesn’t look more like this. The leopard print! The lamps! The unapologetic commitment to kitsch! I’m now seriously considering a full redecoration so I can live in this aesthetic full-time.

And as for the nails… well, let’s just say I might have to make Gossip a regular thing. A fresh set and new brand photos every month? That’s my kind of self-care plan.

Every photo in this post (yep, even the ones of me) has been shot by myself on my iPhone. If you fancy learning how to do your own DIY brand photos, come and join me inside Slay Your Selfies – I’ll teach you the exact method step by step!
